Performing Arts

Santa Fe's performing arts include world class Opera, Dance, Theater, and International Film Competitions.  Santa Fe offers more performing arts for the size of its city then any other place in the country.  Remember to book your Opera tickets soon as they sell out.  the Santa Fe Opera is only held in July and August.  Remember to bring you sweater to the Opera as it's cold some nights even in the summer.

The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival

In late July and early August, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival presents more than 80 events including contemporary and classical chamber concerts, open rehearsals, outreach events for children and adults, and roundtable discussions with musicians.  Various locations.

The Santa Fe Desert Chorale

This 20-person professional chorale performs mostly acappella music ranging from the 12th century to the present.  Catch the Desert Chorale's performances at various venues around Santa Fe, June through August, plus their Christmas Concert Series at Cristo Rey Church in December.

Santa Fe New Music

Santa Fe New Music presents cutting-edge contemporary music by instrumental and vocal performers from around the world. SFNM also produces the biannual Santa Fe Festival of Internatioanl Music.

Santa Fe Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra & Ensemble

Santa Fe Pro Musica performs chamber music of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on period instruments.  The season runs from August through April at a variety of venues in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

From October through April, Santa Fe Symphony and Chorus offers monthly performances of the classical repertoire, in the historic Lensic Theater.

Santa Fe Women's Ensemble

The fourteen-member Santa Fe Women's Ensemble presents a wide variety of classical and contemporary choral music written for women's voices.  Their famous annual Christmas concerts are held in the beautiful and historic Loretto Chapel.

Southwest Roots Music

Also known as Thirsty Ear, Southwest Roots Music produces the annual Thirsty Ear Festival, featuring blue grass, folk, blues, Cajun, Zydeco, and roots rock artists.  (The 2006 Festival will be held on September 1, 2 and 3.)  The organization also stages individual roots music concerts throughout the year.
